Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is an opportunity to articulate who you are.  In the process of putting your experience into words, you and I will come to know and understand you better.  When you verbalize your life experiences, understand how they've affected your development, and feel that I understand them from your point of view, you will then feel that you are both understood and understandable.  These experiences are essential to feeling accepted and respected, and to being able to accept and respect oneself and others.  Psychotherapy sessions are booked in consideration of the needs, preferences and resources of both therapist and patient.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) is an effective treatment to address traumatic experiences.  These experiences may be stressful events that occur in the context of daily life that are difficult to resolve or process without assistance, or traumas that occurred in childhood that continue to haunt challenge an individual in their relationships and daily functioning.  EMDR is an accelerated information processing method which is offered in the context of a strong and emotionally safe clinical relationship. It is used to resolve stuck or unprocessed memories, to strengthen a person's resources and to create a natural balance within the individual.  EMDR has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.  For more information, please visit the website of the EMDR International Association (see links). I am a certified EMDR therapist and would be pleased to discuss this treatment with those who are interested in this approach.
