Consultation

For Therapists and Students

it is as important for therapists to feel valued, accepted and understood in supervision as it is for patients and clients to feel this way in psychotherapy, and for the same reasons.  With an empathically attuned supervisor, a therapist will develop enhanced confidence, a sense of competence and a healthy, vitalized professional sense of self.  I have worked with students in several master's level university training programs and in a number of community based mental health settings.  I am available to provide clinical supervision and consultation to professionals and students interested in learning the theory and application of the principles of Self Psychology.

For Managers and Team Leaders

Conflict, struggle and emotional intensity are inevitable in any work setting or group process.  It is challenging for managers and team leaders to attend to the interpersonal dynamics of team members while under pressure to stay on task and get the job done.  The principles of Self Psychology are extremely useful in alleviating and resolving difficulties in work and group environments.  Taking time for self reflection with an empathic consultation will help managers and team leaders develop enhanced confidence, a sense of competence and a healthy vitalized professional sense of self.  Understanding the motivations and competing interests inherent in workplace challenges will ease the emotional intensity, make communication more effective and conflicts more resolvable.

Study Groups

A study group is an excellent way to learn new skills and to strengthen one's professional sense of self in a safe and accepting environment.  As therapists, our work is necessarily private and isolating.  We can often feel like everyone else does it better than we do.  Psychotherapy is an art.  It is a co-created process between patient and therapist; unique to every working pair.  In a group setting that strictly maintains the confidentiality of our patients, we have the opportunity to explore the clinical process in depth.  I am pleased to facilitate study groups and the shape each group in response to the needs and preferences of participants.
